Releasing Brakes on Individual Axes

The VS-*** series of robots has brakes on all axes. At the time of an emergency stop, to move axes with the motors OFF, release the brakes using either of the following two procedures.

UL-listed robot units cannot release brakes with a teach pendant or a mini-pendant.

Release the Brakes Using the Teach Pendant or Mini Pendant

Release the Brakes Using the Brake Release Unit

  1. Select the axis to be released with the axis selector switch.
  2. Press the brake release button.

Only when the controller power is ON, brakes can be released.
