Caution for Wiring

  • Electric wire size for external I/O device is referred to the following:
    0.5 to 1.3mm² AWG20 to 16
  • Correctly apply the specified voltage (24V±10%) to the input terminals. If you connect to a power supply which is out of specification, the provided function can not expect its full capacity or performance. Doing so may decline the safety function, and the product itself may break or burn as a result.
  • Wire the cables for I/O signals far from high-voltage line or power lines.
  • Avoid using the terminal of 24V to grounding.
  • Avoid bending or pulling down the cables excessively. Excessively bending and/or pulling down will result in broken lead wires.
  • Use the only one power supply.
  • Be sure to turn off the power supply before wiring.
  • Incorrect wiring may damage the safety function. Be sure to set all the wiring correctly, and check it before operating.
  • Configure the safety system by using the both wirings of Line 1 and Line 2. Configuring with only one Line for the safety system may damage the safety function.
  • Inputting for safety needs to be doubled. Also, that needs to allow the inputting for safety to do the same performance at that time.

Please note that the connecting shown in the following figure is not allowed.

For Choosing Power-Supply Unit

To use an external power source to the I/O, use a DC power-supply unit.
DC power-supply unit should meet the following requirements:

  • The area between the 1st circuit and the 2nd should be doubled insulation or reinforced insulation.
  • The requirement of output characteristics defined by UL508, such as Class 2 circuit requirements or Limited voltage/current circuit, should be filled.
  • Output holding time should be more than 20ms.
  • SELV power supply which is filled the requirements for IEC/EN60950-1, EN50178.
