Classification of Users
In handling a robot, classify users as shown below and ensure that they take training required for their respective classifications.
In this manual, the classification of users is called "user permission".
- Install robots and related devices in compliance with laws and regulations of each country and region.
- When performing a task such as transport, installation, teaching, adjustment, and maintenance, ensure safety and wear protective equipment (including working clothes, safety shoes, safety glasses, helmet, and gloves) appropriate for a task.
Types of User Permissions
There are four types of user permissions.
Operation
- Turning ON/OFF a robot.
- Starting a robot program from the control panel.
Programming
- Performing what users granted the Operation permission can perform.
- Moving a robot manually and saving its position in the memory.
- Creating and editing a robot program.
- Checking the connection between a robot and its peripheral devices and adjusting the connection setting.
-
Allowed to perform a task inside the safety fences only when the following conditions are met.
- Has taken robot operation training.
- Safety measures for a person performing a task inside the safety fences have been implemented based on a risk assessment.
Maintenance
- Performing what users granted the Operation permission can perform.
- Transporting, installing, and removing a robot.
- Moving a robot manually.
- Eliminating the cause of an error occurring in a robot and bringing the robot back into operation.
-
Allowed to perform a task inside the safety fences only when the following conditions are met.
- Has taken robot operation training.
- Safety measures for a person performing a task inside the safety fences have been taken based on a risk assessment.
Risk Management
- Performing what users granted the Operation permission can perform.
- Changing the settings related to the robot safety functions.
Training Required for Each User Permission
The following table shows the training required for Operation, Programming, and Maintenance.
| Operation | Programming | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|
| Robot system/cell safety education | ||
| - | Robot special education based on the laws and regulations | |
| - | Robot maintenance education | |
An operator granted the Risk Management permission must have the following.
- Knowledge of the international standard ISO 12100, ISO 10218-1, and ISO 10218-2
Notes
When using the robot program editing software "WINCAPSIII”, you need to select a use level. User level and use permission are defined differently. For details of the user levels in WINCAPSIII, refer to "User Level and Permission".
