Transporting the Robot Unit

Precautions in Transporting the Robot Controller

The VMB series robot weighs approximately 250 kg. Use a crane or a lift with sufficient capacity.

  • Workers should wear protective gears such as safety shoes, gloves, safety goggles and a helmet for ensuring safety.
  • Ensure a sufficient working space around the installation place.
  • When lifting the robot unit, use a lift or crane with sufficient capacity.
  • Make a dedicated jig to turn the robot unit safely.
  • Check places where there is a potential danger of getting hands or body caught between the robot unit and the surroundings if you lift the robot unit or turn it to the mounting position, then take measures to remove the danger beforehand.
  • Do not stay under a lifted robot.
  • Secure a wire rope to the hoisting bolts (eyebolts). Securing the wire rope to another portion of the robot may lead to damage to the robot or injury to a person.

Transport Posture

Before transportation, set the robot unit in a well-balanced transport position as shown below.

Transporting with Forklift

When transporting with a forklift, use the following forklift set.

Remove the attachments for forklift except when transporting the robot.

* External dimension: external dimensions of the attachments, Internal dimension: internal dimensions of the attachments

* Thickness of the attachments (steel pipe): 6 mm

Attachment for forklift 2
Hexagonal socket-head bolts M12×30 (strength class: 12.9) 6
Tightening torque 42±8Nm

Precaution for the Robot Equipped with the External Battery Unit

The robot equipped with the external battery , unit has been removed the encoder backup battery which originally installed inside the robot. In the event of transporting or removing the robot, make sure to reinstall the encoder backup battery to the robot before removing the external battery unit from the robot. Removing the external battery unit without reinstalling the encoder backup battery causes the loss of encoder data. Before removing the external battery unit, confirm that the encoder backup batteries are installed in the robot.
