Precautions for Safe Use of the Robot System
This section provides safety precautions to be taken when you configure the robot system with auxiliary axis motors. For details, refer to the ISO 10218-1:2011, Safety Requirements.
For Auxiliary Axis Motor Driven Mechanism
- If the mechanism involves a risk of bodily injury to workers, set up a safety fence to prevent danger.
- When the auxiliary axis in the mechanism has the largest motion range in all axes (including robot joints), prepare adjustable mechanical stops with sufficient rigidity.
- When the auxiliary axis in the mechanism has the 2nd or 3rd largest motion range in all axes (including robot joints), prepare axis limiters with sufficient rigidity.
- If the mechanism involves a risk of bodily injury to workers when the brakes are released, use warning labels to alert workers to danger.
- If it is not easy to carry the mechanism, prepare any measures for hoisting it.
- Provide markings (e.g. labels) on the driven mechanisms to show which axis corresponds to which mechanism.
When Connecting Auxiliary Axis Motors
When connecting the auxiliary axis motors using the motor cables and their conversion cables, protect those cables from electrical noise.
When Mounting Auxiliary Axis Motors
If the motor surface gets hot and the workers are at risk of touching the heated surface, attach a warning label, alerting them to the high temperature.
For Providing Data to the End User
When the motion range of the auxiliary axis is 3rd largest or below in all axes (including robot joints), provide the end user with the maximum stop time and distance of that axis, using instruction manuals, etc.
