Risk Assessment Overview
For safety design/operation of Industrial robot system (hereafter, robot system), there is an international standard, ISO 10218-2. Many countries require robot system integrators to comply with this standard. Even if not, this standards shall be met in the viewpoint of for operator's safety.
For a robot system where personnel and robots collaborates, there is an international standard, ISO/TS 15066, which specifies the safety requirements unique to collaborative robot system.
These standards require to inspect potential hazards of the robot system at the first stage of the robot system design (risk assessment). If any risks are determined by the risk assessment, you need to take countermeasures to eliminate or reduce such risks.
Risk assessment shall be conducted to risks that are caused by incorrect operations or that cannot be eliminated by the design phase of each device. Safety Precautions lists such risks about COBOTTA.
To establish/operate a COBOTTA-used robot system, be sure to conduct risk assessment with referring to ISO 10218-2, ISO/TS 15066 and "Safety Precautions".
