Robot Motion Creation

The following section describes how to create a robot motion.

What is a Robot Motion Creation?

In COBOTTA operation, users teach and record COBOTTA motion beforehand. When users issue a command, the recorded motion starts.

To run a COBOTTA in operation site, do the following three steps.

The following step (1) and step (2) are called robot motion creation

(1) Motion Planning

Design how a COBOTTA moves. In this step, you use paper or computer for motion design, not a COBOTTA itself.
For example, you will decide where the arm moves to, when the arm starts moving, when the gripper opens or closes, how to synchronize the peripheral devices.

(2) Teaching and Checking a Robot Motion

Teach and record a designed motion to COBOTTA This is called "Motion teaching".
Then, call the taught motion and execute it to check if the motion teaching has been done properly. If a COBOTTA shows unintended motion, retry the motion teaching. Repeat this step until a COBOTTA moves as planned.

(3) Implementation

Install a COBOTTA in operation site, and then let the COBOTTA run a taught motion repeatedly.

How to Teach a Motion

Motion teaching is to create robot program and record it with a COBOTTA's input device. To move a COBOTTA, write a command that concretely instructs a motion and specifies the motion destination of the arm.

As a input device of COBOTTA, a tablet (including a smart phone) and computer are available. Using a dedicated application software on a tablet or computer enables to create a robot program.

Teaching Application Software

There are largely two types of COBOTTA teaching application software as follows.

Application software Content
COBOTTA World

This software is designed for users who create a robot motion first time. By following the displayed guidance, users can easily create a robot motion.

For details, please refer to "Robot motion creation with COBOTTA World".
TP App/WINCAPS3

This software is designed for users who intend to design detailed motion or users who have been experienced in DENSO ROBOT motion creation.

Users need to have the robot basic knowledge and know robot features, programming languages, and commands.

For details, please refer to "Robot motion creation with TP App/WINCAPS3".

Precautions at Robot Motion Creation

  • After COBOTTA is powered on, the following item must be executed.

    Item Description
Motion Preparation Makes ready to start a robot program.

For the item indicated above, refer to "Motion Preparation at Startup".
