Classification of Users

When using COBOTTA, classify the users as indicated below and let each user group to take necessary training.

With COBOTTA, the classification of users is called "user level".

Regardless of the user levels, installation of robots and related devices should be performed by a qualified person according to the laws and regulations of each country.

Types of User Levels

There are four types of user levels.

Operator

  • An operator can move a robot manually.
  • When moving a robot manually, an operator can move the robot by operating the application on the PC or tablet.
  • The operator can start and stop the automatic operation of the robot.

Programmer

  • A programmer can perform what the operator can perform.
  • A programmer can move a robot manually and put these positions into the memory.
  • When moving a robot manually, a programmer can not only operate the application on PC and tablet but also move the robot directly with hands.
  • A programmer can create and edit the robot program.
  • A programmer can check the connection with the peripheral devices of the robot and correct the connection setting.

Maintainer

  • A maintainer can perform what the operator can perform.
  • A maintainer can transport, install, and remove the robot.
  • When an error occurs with a robot, the maintainer can eliminate the cause and bring it back to the operating status.
  • A maintainer can perform the inspection and maintenance of robot.

Risk Assessor

  • A risk assessor can change the setting related to the safety functions of robot.

Training Required for Users in Each User Level

Following table indicates the training required for the operators, programmers, and maintainers.

Operator Programmer Maintainer
Safety training of machinery including robots

Training to make the work of operators to be performed safely

Training to make the work of programmers to be performed safely

Training to make the work of maintainers to be performed safely

- Maintenance training of robots

The risk assessors are requested to have the following knowledge.

  • They should have the knowledge of the international standard ISO 12100, ISO 10218-1, and ISO 10218-2.

Points to Consider

When using the robot program editing software "WINCAPSIII", the user is requested to choose the user level. In this case, however, the definition of "user level" is different. For details on the user levels of WINCAPSIII, refer to "User Levels and Access Rights".
