Overview

What is a COBOTTA?

COBOTTA is an industrial robot that is designed for the application in the human-robot coexistence and cooperation, such as object transport, assembly, and picking operations in a building.
COBOTTA's arm structure is designed to reduce entanglement of human body parts (such as fingers). Also, it equips the safety function that limits the speed and torque to limit the contact force in the event of collision with human body (except for nimble body parts, such as head, eyes). COBOTTA and it's gripper (an optional part) meet the requirements of ISO10218-1:2011, 5.10.5 and ISO/TS 15066:2016, 5.5.5, which are for collaborative robots. COBOTTA does not have an enable switch because it monitors force and speed at all times during the motor power-on.
To secure operators safety, be sure to perform risk assessment of the entire robot system by you or a system integrator (refer to ISO12100, ISO10218-2), take safety measures against end-effectors, tools, workpieces, robot system. Also, before starting the operation, to reduce the potential risks to the acceptable level, ensure that workers wear personal protective equipment, robot motion speed restriction is properly performed, and all components and devices being used satisfy the safety standard requirements.
Identify applicable regulations, laws and standards by you and take necessary measures for compliance with them.

Never use COBOTTA in any of the following ways. Doing so will damage to COBOTTA and/or workers.

  • To run a COBOTTA while it is not fastened in the workbench.
  • To make a COBOTTA have a sharp object.
  • To carry a COBOTTA by holding the arm part or the tool-end part.
