IPC Setting
Use a USB dongle to activate Beckoff Automation TwinCAT licenses.

Open the front panel of the robot controller and insert the USB dongle into the IPC inside the controller.

Activate TwinCAT XAE Shell to create a project.

Operation path (TwinCAT XAE Shell): [File] - [Open] - [Open Project from Target...]
Display the [Choose Target System] window and press the [Search...] button.
If you use a terminal other than the field network device and DIO module that can be selected in WINCAPSIII, set the parameter No.136 [XAE Scan] in VRC parameter to [1: Disable] and execute Scan for the terminal using XAE Remote Access yourself.

[Add Route Dialog] appears.
Enter the IP address of the robot controller, and then select the intended controller displayed in the list.
Press the [Add Route] button with the intended robot controller selected.

Different operational procedures apply depending on the robot controller software version. Check the robot controller software version and follow the procedure appropriate for the version.
Software Version 1.7.x or Higher
Follow the procedure below if your software version is 1.7.x or higher.
Check [SecureADS], and then select [Preshared key (PSK)].
The entry field for [ID] and [Password] will appear.
Enter the user ID and password registered in the robot controller in [ID] and [Password].
- ID
Enter the user ID registered in the robot controller preceded by “RC9_”. A user ID to be entered here needs to be granted user permission for either "Risk Management", "Maintenance", or "Programming".If the user ID is [Administrator], enter [RC9_Administrator] in ID.
- Password
Enter the password for the user ID registered in the robot controller and entered in “ID”.
Software Version 1.6.x or Lower
Follow the procedure below if your software version is 1.6.x or lower.
Check [SecureADS], and then select [Preshared key (PSK)].
The entry field for [ID] and [Password] will appear.
Enter the [XAE remote access user name] and [XAE remote access password] displayed in [System Info] in [ID] and [Password].
If [XAE remote access user name] and [XAE remote access password] are not displayed in [System Info] of Smart TP, check the following possible reasons.
- After adding a new account, you logged in with the new account without restarting the robot controller.
- After editing the account information, you logged in with the edited account without restarting the robot controller.
In this case, restart the robot controller.

Return to [Add Route Dialog] and check if an icon is displayed in [Connected].
Press the [Close] button.

Select an item whose head icon is green (or blue), and press [OK].

Select where to save the project.

Switch to the Config mode.

In Solution Explorer, right click [I/O] - [Device] and select [Scan]. Check the detected device and press [OK].
Device 3 will be added below Device 2, and [Box 254] will be displayed in Device 3.

Right click [SYSTEM] - [License] and select [Add new item].

Double click the newly created [Dongle 1] and press the [Search in I/O configuration] button.
Select [Box 254] in the [Choose I/O box/Terminal] dialog and press the [OK] button.

Press the [Reload Info] button in [License Device].
Confirm that values have been entered in [System Id] and [Status] has been changed to [Valid].

Follow the operation path [SYSTEM] - [License] - [Manage Licenses] and check the license to add.

In [Order Information (Runtime)], change the added [License Device] to [Dongle 1(Hardware Id)].
Save all the settings and close TwinCAT XAE Shell, and restart the robot controller. (The restart requires tens of minutes.)
This completes the setting for the IPC.
