Pendant-less Operation

What Is Pendant-less Operation?

The robot can operate automatically with the smart TP or the mini-pendant disconnected from the robot controller.

This operation is called the pendant-less operation.

However, to enable the pendant-less operation, you need to insert a pendant-less connector into the pendant connector on the side of the robot controller.

Pendant-less state is the state that the pendant-less connector is inserted into the pendant connector on the side of the robot controller.

Precautions for the Pendant-less Operation

If you consider using the pendant-less operation, be sure to implement the following precautions.

  • Program cannot be started unless the pendantless connector is inserted.
  • Prepare an emergency stop input signal on the system side because the emergency stop button on the smart TP or on the mini-pendant is unavailable.

Required Steps before Connecting the Pendant-less Connector

To enable the pendant-less state, perform the following steps before connecting the pendant-less connector to the robot controller.

1

Switch the operation mode to Auto mode on the smart TP or the mini-pendant. (For how to switch the operation modes, refer to the following.)

For safety, before switching the operation mode to Auto mode, be sure to read "Precautions for Automatic Operation" in "Precautions while Robot is Running"

2

Turn off the robot controller.

3

Disconnect the smart TP or the mini-pendant from the robot controller, then connect the pendant-less connector to the controller.

Turning on the robot controller after completing the steps above will start the controller in Auto mode. (However, the circuit for the enable auto input signal of Safety I/O needs to be short-circuited.) The mode cannot be switched to Manual mode.

Turning on the robot controller without completing the steps above will start the controller in Manual mode. In this state, the mode cannot be switched to Auto mode, and the robot cannot operate automatically.
