STO Monitor (output)

Function

This signal outputs the STO status. (RC8A only) (Except for Safety I/O less)

STO (Safe Torque Off) is a function that turns OFF the motor power of the robot.
The 1a and 2a dry contacts CLOSE when the motor is ON and OPEN when the motor is OFF.
The 1b and 2b dry contacts OPEN when the motor is ON and CLOSE when the motor is OFF.

Usage

This signal is used to confirm the Motor ON/OFF state.

Refer to RC8A MINI I/O MANUAL, "[NPN type] Safety Circuit of RC8A"or"[PNP type] Safety Circuit of RC8A".

  • It takes 40 milliseconds from the turning-ON of the Monitor output 1 to the turning-ON of the Monitor output 2.
  • Apply at least 10 milliamperes through the contacts.
  • When using the STO Monitor output signal for the Drive Power Indicator, install the Drive Power Indicator in a visible location near the safety door outside the robot cell.
