Biennial Inspections
Replace the encoder backup batteries and inspect the timing belts every two years.
Please contact your DENSO representative to inspect timing belts and to adjust them.
- The battery used in this device may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 100℃ (212°F), or incinerate.
- Dispose of used battery promptly. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire.
- Just after the robot has stopped, some parts of the robot might be hot. When touching the robot for its maintenance or carrying, be sure to wait until get it cold.
RC8 series robot controller does not have a memory backup battery; However, it contains a battery that maintains the date and time of the internal clock. The life span of the internal clock battery is 10 years. At the biennial inspection, check if the battery's life span (10 years) has arrived. If it has arrived, please contact the DENSO Robot service division or a dealer where you have purchased our robot to request the battery replacement.
For details, refer to the "Battery Replacement for the Internal Clock" of RC8 SERIES ROBOT CONTROLLER MANUAL.
Backup Battery
Battery type | Used to: | Located: |
---|---|---|
Encoder backup battery | Retains back up the position data of the servomotor encoder. | In the robot unit |
The position data of the encoder built in the servomotor is stored in the internal memory of the encoder.
The backup battery for each memory retains the above data while the power to the robot controller is turned OFF. However, these batteries have a limited lifetime and must, therefore, be replaced regularly.
Without replacing the backup batteries, important robot-specific data stored in memory will be lost.
