How to Configure MC9 Series

To configure the MC9 series controller, you need to set specific parameters.

Your intended use of MC9 series determines what parameters should be specified.

MC9 series largely has the following uses:

When using the MC9 series controller (IPC-less type), install the following firmware in addition to the settings for each use.

This section outlines the uses of the controller and the settings for each use.

When Used for X-Y Table or Driving Servo Motors

This use is intended for the following simple axis configurations.

  • Controlling each of the servo motors of eight axes separately
  • Controlling the robot configured based on the Cartesian coordinate system

For how to set the parameters for this use, refer to "When Used for X-Y Table or Driving Servo Motors".

When Used with Kinematics Configuration

This use is intended for a customer-designed robot mechanism using multiple axes.

Configure the MC9 series controller in accordance with the customer-designed robot mechanism by using MC9 Kinematics Configuration Tool.

This will enable you to control the robot mechanism by the MC9 series controller.

For how to set the parameters for this use, refer to "When Used with Kinematics Configuration".

When Connected to the RC8 Series Robot Controller

This use is intended for controlling our robots that are controllable through the RC8 series robot controller (hereinafter called "RC8 series compatible robot") by the MC9 series controller.

More precisely, the MC9 series controller controls the RC8 series compatible robot through the RC8 series robot controller.

For how to set the parameters for this use, refer to "When Connected to the RC8 Series Robot Controller".

Install RC9 Firmware

When using the MC9 controller (IPC-less type), you need to prepare an IPC to program and control the operation of motors. Install RC9 Firmware in the IPC.

For details, refer to "Procedure for Configuring the MC9 Controller (IPC-Less Type)".
