System Configuration

The following shows the system configuration when using the Home Position Guidance function.

The Home Position Guidance function requires IPC set for RC8 extension function, which is to be connected to the RC8 series robot controller.

System Configuration Layout

IPC Set for RC8 Extension Function

IPC set for RC8 extension function (hereinafter called "the IPC set") is a device to calculate the path of the Home Position Guidance and send the calculation result to the RC8 series controller.

One IPC set unit can be connected to up to 254 robot controllers.

The IPC set cannot calculate a home position guidance path for multiple robot controllers at the same time.

For example, the IPC set is connected to Robot controller A and Robot controller B. Robot controller B sends a request for home position guidance path calculation to the IPC set while the IPC set is calculating the path for Robot controller A. This causes a level-1 error in Robot controller B.

The time required for the calculation depends on the recording time of a control log (up to 240[s]) and the robot motion. The time can be approximately 30[s] for a control log with the maximum recording time.

Consider the following items to decide how many IPC set units to be connected in your robot controller network.

  • The number of robots
  • The time required for home position guidance path calculation for each robot
  • As the factory default, UWF settings are OFF.

You should update its Windows and security settings before using it because they may not be the latest in the factory-default state.
