Moving Each Axis with Motor Power OFF in an Emergency Stop or When a Worker Trapped by the Robot

The VS-*** series of robots has brakes on all axes. At the time of an emergency stop or when a worker is trapped by the robot, to move axes with the motors OFF, release the brakes using either of the following two procedures.

UL-listed robot units cannot release brakes with a teach pendant or a mini-pendant.

For Standard Type Robot

Release the brakes with Teach Pendant or Mini Pendant.

For UL-Listed Robot Units

Release the brakes using the Brake release unit. The way of releasing brakes is as follows;

  1. Select the axis to be released with the axis selector switch.
  2. Press the brake release button.

Only when the controller power is ON, brakes can be released.

Motor-ON lamps are mounted to UL-listed robot units on the left and right sides of the first arm.
