Caution for Wiring

Encoder executes data transfer via serial communication, so be sure to connect the shield wires and the FG wires of the motor with attention to the following points.

  1. Before connecting motors, please check the label placed on the upper plate of the controller to confirm which SLOT shall be connected to which motor. The figure below shows the example of the label.
    Wrong connection may cause unexpected movement of the robot. It is dangerous.
  2. Fix the FG on the Encoder hub and the controller with screws. Fix the encoder hub with screws after cables are connected.

Do not bundle the teach pendant cables, I/O cables or motor cables together with high power lines such as 200 VAC lines and peripheral device cables, or route the motor cables near high power devices (motor, welder, parts feeder, etc.).

Example of the label

The label shown below indicates the following motor connection.

  • SLOT1 : J4,J1
  • SLOT2 : J3,J2
  • SLOT3 : J6,J5
  • SLOT4 : J8,J7
